THE ANATOLIAN CERAMICS: YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW

A traditional skill that is composed of 8 thousand years of art, investments in advanced technological, a high quality of coarse materials, innovation solutions and sustainable  ingredients and an unstoppable growth of the production of Turkish ceramics and of their brand.

Bologna, 29 September – In occasion of Cersaie (International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, 09/28-10/03, Bologna Fiere) Turkish Ceramics Promotion Group presented trends, innovations, events and special guests like Serra Yilmaz, the Turkish actress which stared in the movies by Ferzan Ozpetek, that will bring in Italy in the upcoming days Turkish atmosphere and style.

After the extraordinary performances from 1990-2000, today the entire sector of Turkish ceramics achieves a capacity of growth equal to €2 billion but it is supposed that it will triplicate while the bathroom furniture will double.

“From 2000 to 2009 the exportation of ceramics for tiles and bathroom furnishing has doubled. In 2009 the production of ceramics for tiles is equal to 205 billion square meters while as the bathroom furnishing is equal to 195.000 tons. A quantity which is even more “impressive” because of its being enriched by a study of the quality and of the innovations in terms of technology and design” stated the President of Turkish Ceramic Promotion Group,  Bahadir Kayan, in the course of the meeting with the press and business community today presenting the new trends: new colors, forms not conventional and new formats adaptable to every space and especially the continuous growth of sensibility and innovations in terms on environmental sustainability. “The authentic mix of historical tradition with a modern design bring Turkish ceramics to be one of the most famous brands in the world that from being craftsmanship became art” stated the president Kayan introducing “CeramISTanbul in Bologna”, the exhibition on ceramic art which will take place, free of charge, in the “Palazzo dei Congressi- Sala Bianca untill the 2nd of October.

 

Turkish art will illuminate also the night of 30th of September at 20.00, in Piazza Maggiore in a musical form with another event that Turkish Ceramics Group will offer to the city of Bologna for the fourth time in the past 4 years: Hüsnü Şenlendirici Ensemble. One of the masters of the clarinet, Hüsnü Şenlendirici Ensemble made famous in Europe and in the USA with his capacity to combine chill out music, folk and jazz together with the famous Turkish ensemble clarinet.

 

At today's meeting there were also Mustafa Çesar the commercial Councellor of the Turkish Embasy in Rome, Mutlu Baskaya,  the director of CeramISTanbul and Hüsnü Senlendirici that ended the meeting of tonight playing a precious clarinet made of ceramic presented at the exhibition and our special guest Serra Yilmaz.
